Before you send email: Please understand that only one of us is a native English speaker, internet connections can be slow and intermittent, and we all have lots to do to achieve our primary goals of improving literacy and education in Laos. This English-language website was developed so that people in other countries can see what we're doing, but we have few people who are able to answer inquiries in English, and they each have many other responsibilities. Responses to email inquiries will be brief, and may not be as fast as in your country. Before you send email, we ask you to do the following:

The work described on this website keeps us busy. To purchase books when you are here, there is no need to email in advance, please simply come by and pick out the titles you would like.

Nong Khiaw trip
Five days (four nights) on the road plus two days in Luang Prabang. It is possible, if your time is limited, to miss one or both of the Luang Prabang days. We'll have half-day visits to each of our Big Sister Mouse schools on the outskirts of Luang Prabang, with time to enjoy activities with children. Then one night near Ton Kit School #1, and three nights in the small, scenic resort town of Nong Khiaw. During that time we'll visit Ton Kit #2, with opportunities for a mountain hike, a visit to a weaving village, and then to a cave where local people took refuge during the U.S. bombing campaign of 1964-73. Little Rabbit School trip
Our most remote trip, by most measures, is Little Rabbit. That distance also makes it a very special place to visit. Children here rarely see people from abroad. It's a rare and exciting event when people from faraway countries don't merely show up, but stay to enjoy games, English practice, and other activities with students. We travel upriver, on a boat that is typically only a third full, spend four full days at the school, with some sightseeing nearby, then return on the new high-speed train. Nan-Xayabuli trip
Three newer schools lie on the road south from Luang Prabang. This trip offers time to see and engage with students at each of them, while keeping road time to the minumum possible. As on our other trips, you can choose from a range of ways to get involved, such as helping with English, or playing math and geography games. One day you'll have the option of helping at Little Deer School, or visiting the Elephant Conservation Center. More about Nan-Xayabuli trip
