The best way to see our books, and to buy exactly what you want, is to visit one of our shops in Luang Prabang or Vientiane. (Please see the "Visit Us" page.)
We regret that at this time, we are not able to ship books, either within or outside Laos. While we would like to be able to provide this service for interested readers, we hope you will understand that receiving payments and shipping books are not as simple here as in wealthier countries, and we do not have an English-speaking staff to handle the correspondence involved in shipping books.
Note: If you have sponsored a book, we'll always send a copy after it's printed unless you request otherwise. If you've done this or donated a comparable amount, and would like one or two other books, we're happy to send them as a small thank-you. Please just ask.
High levels of mobile phone use are becoming a concern worldwide – more slowly in Laos than in some countries, but many people, including children as young as ages two or three, have a phone addiction. Studies in other countries suggest that heavy phone use contributes to depression, particularly in adolescents.
Consequently, we had several discussions as we considered whether to put some of our books online for free, easy access. Were we contributing to a problem, or introducing young people to reading, through the medium they know best?
We concluded that not posting books would inspire absolutely no one to use the phone less and read more. Posting books could easily convince some people to seek out more such books on paper. We decided to put a small sample of our list online.
These include easy books for new readers; fairy tales; science, and history. We also have a section of bilingual books for people learning English or Lao. You can find them here:
Read Lao-language books online on your cellphone, tablet, or computer.
Or, you can download a free PDF. We have selected titles available for free download, including English and Lao and bilingual books, for both beginning and adult readers. These cannot be read easily on a phone; you will need a larger screen, or print them out.
