We use a phonetic system of writing English by using Lao letters as much as possible, with other symbols for sounds (such as th) which don't exist in Lao. This is easy for Lao speakers to master, then they can pronounce each word correctly as they read the English by themselves. The Cat's Alphabet uses both standard English, and phonetic spellings, to teach the alphabet and the most common sounds of each letter.
