Big Brother Mouse
A Khmu village

I am Piak

The cock crows, and Piak's day begins. This picture book shows daily life in a Khmu village, as a girl helps her family and neighbors as they go about their daily life: sweeping, watering plants, carrying wood for the fire.

While it is enjoyable for both children and adults from all ethnic groups, this book is particularly intended to help young Khmu children who don't use the Lao language in their home, as they learn to read and speak it.

Haul water, haul wood, cook food... it's a lot of work, living in this village! But I never hear anybody complain.
