The Lao Alphabet

Frog, Alligator, Buffalo

Lao spellings are phonetic, so a Lao child who has thoroughly learned the alphabet can read, although very slowly at first. Starting with Frog and Alligator, instead of the usual Chicken and Egg, Khamla has written a short, funny rhyme for each letter.

This was one of our earliest books, and the first printing sold out. Now we'll have it in two versions: A very small individual size, and this large format, with one letter on each 2-page spread, designed for teachers to hold up and show the class.

Until I read this, every alphabet book I saw started with a chicken, then an egg. This is much more fun.
