Summer school: During the months of July and August, we've offered summer school for children in nearby villages, particularly those who have not yet learned to read well enough.
The top priority at our summer school is for children to improve their reading skills and to enjoy reading, while we experiment to see what are the best ways to make that happen.
We've started with a variety schedule of activities, changing every 15 to 45 minutes with games and physical activity in between. We have 3 reading sessions a day, 30 minutes each. Children read independently if they can; and our staff helps those who are just learning. Sometimes, as shown here, slightly older children help younger ones.
