30 September, 2011, Ban Sanghai, Laos

Book party: Book parties are one way that Big Brother Mouse gets books to children in rural Lao villages. In primary schools we read from books, play games, sing songs, and have a drawing lesson. In high schools, we have a different set of activities. At the end, every student gets to choose a book, usually the first book they've ever owned. Then we give more to the school, for their library or classroom use.

This event was sponsored by Global Fund for Children (United States). Thank you!

This is one of many Big Brother Mouse events sponsored by the Global Fund for Children in Washington. GFC specializes in finding small, locally-based organizations that are doing good work, but may not have high visibility. They found Big Brother Mouse, back when were were a much smaller mouse, and decided that our work was worthy of support. That allowed us to focus on doing a good job for children, rather than writing proposals.
