Teacher workshop: Today's teachers in Laos didn't have books like ours when they were children. They probably had no books at all. They have no experience using books in class. So we're looking for ways to provide teacher training, about the new teaching opportunities that are created by fun, engaging, and educational books.

This event was sponsored by Lyle and Agnes Schaller (United States). Thank you!

We held a one-day workshop at the Teacher Training College in Luang Prabang. Within a few hours, teachers quickly picked up the read-aloud skills that we taught, then got some real-life practice with children.

We also introduced them to "Number bingo," a game that makes it fun to practice math skills. Players roll three dice, then use math operations like addition and subtraction to form a number. They cover that number on the board, and try to get 4 in a row.

At the end, we gave each future teacher a set of books, to take when they return to their home village to teach.
