Book party: Book parties are one way that Big Brother Mouse gets books to children in rural Lao villages. In primary schools we read from books, play games, sing songs, and have a drawing lesson. In high schools, we have a different set of activities. At the end, every student gets to choose a book, usually the first book they've ever owned. Then we give more to the school, for their library or classroom use.

This event was sponsored by Planet Wheeler Foundation (Australia). Thank you!

Dtui often serves as MC at our high school and middle school book parties. (This particular school, like many, is both: It has grades 6 through 12.) We met Dtui in our very first year of operation, when he owned a van. We hired him to get us to book parties.

It wasn't a big source of income for him. We had about one book party a month that first year. But Dtui loved helping children, and he helped out at the book parties as much as he could. When his van died, he came to work at Big Brother Mouse fulltime, and is now a valued part of the team.
