Book party: Book parties are one way that Big Brother Mouse gets books to children in rural Lao villages. In primary schools we read from books, play games, sing songs, and have a drawing lesson. In high schools, we have a different set of activities. At the end, every student gets to choose a book, usually the first book they've ever owned. Then we give more to the school, for their library or classroom use.

This event was sponsored by Lyle and Agnes Schaller (United States). Thank you!

After three years of going to primary schools, we held our first book party for older grades. This was at a middle school, grades 6 to 8. Each district has only a few high schools. It's too far for most students to travel from home each day; in one picture, you can see some looking out from the dormitory where many of them sleep.

This book party was sponsored by two very special people, Lyle and Agnes Schaller, who have shared their love of reading by sponsoring more than a hundred book parties, as well as many books. Thank you!
