"When the cat's away," and other insights
"I've always likes the proverb about what happens when the cat's away. Unfortunately, I think the cat just came back!"
One bit of wisdom seems to have been discovered by all cultures: "When the cat's away, the mice will play." Others will be new to many readers: "Cool water, fish live. Hot water, fish escape."
These proverbs were collected and illustrated by young people at the Children's Cultural Center and at the Orphanage School in Luang Prabang, in a contest sponsored by Big Brother Mouse.
