A picture guide to a widely-used language
The Khmu are the largest ethnic minority group in Laos, and Khmu is the first language of many children in Laos. It did not have a written form until the last century. Even now most Khmu cannot read or write the language, and there is almost no written material available in Khmu.
We believe that many Khmu children will enjoy reading more if they begin with their first language. Doing so will also make it easier for them to learn Lao, since the alphabets are almost identical. This alphabet book introduces each common Khmu letter with pictures of several words that begin with that letter, or include it.
