Helping Children Who Are Deaf

Hearing loss creates great challenges for anyone, anywhere. For a child in a rural village of Laos, whose family may have no access to any outside resources, it can mean becoming cut off from the world.

This is a Lao adaptation of the excellent book from the Hesperian Foundation. It guides the family through such questions as Why is hearing important? How do you check a young child's hearing? What causes deafness? What can you do about it? How can you provide education for a deaf child?
